AC blowing warm air. Service today installed the unit in 2019 and it’s under a 10 year warranty. Service tech came out and had cool air blowing within minutes; only needed hard reset . Then the tech says levels in capacitor were low and needed to be replaced gave me two options one that had 1 year warranty and one that had 5 year. I chose the 5 year. When done I told him the unit was under warranty but told I had a balance to pay off over $500. His explanation was not clear to me, he said he could apply $50 coupon for the trip charge and changed the subject about his route that day. I didn’t want to be confrontational with him he was very nice. I had been communicating back and forth with my husband and we decided we would just call and speak with a representative at Service Today, surely they would be able to get this sorted out for us. After a week of calling, trying to get someone to explain I was told the charge labeled “ ACHP-TURBO-
60-Replace existing weak/failed capacitor with new Turbo 200 capacitor-‭ Qty ‬1.00‭ ‬$458.00‭.‬ is for labor. Amazon has the part listed for $81.50. Very hard to believe $458.00 is a labor charge. It is not clearly labeled that way AND if I was told upfront the cost of labor to replace an $80.00 part was over $400.00 I would have refused. I did some research and found a local HVAC expert will charge between $60 and $200 to replace a capacitor. Keeping in mind that many professionals will charge a flat rate for an AC capacitor replacement and a more common cost range to expect is $120 to $250. Scott said they don’t do their invoice that way. We have already paid so I am feeling Service Today has no incentive to reconcile this matter. This experience has left me feeling scammed and misled. I have no problem paying for the tech coming out or paying a reasonable labor cost. I asked to speak with a manager told it would take 24 for a manager to contact me. Unfortunately at the time of this submission I am still waiting for a manager to call back.

I had a faulty electrical outlet that needed to be replaced. They were able to get someone there that evening and It was fixed in less than a half hour. Only drawback was the cost, $184 dollars.

After experiencing day after day of hot, humid weather, our A/C unit decided to take a break and not cool the house…our thermostat registered 80 degrees! We have a senior English Bulldog and she was struggling. I called Service Today a few minutes after 4pm, explained the situation, and was told a technician would definitely respond today.

James D arrived around 8pm, in the midst of a torrential downpour! Without hesitation he proceeded to assess the situation, explained the problem and went to work, rain and all. The line had frozen so it took some time to cool off our house, but James resolved the problem which allowed me to stop worrying about the safety of my dog and to sleep peacefully. Service Today will be the first place I ever call again. They responded promptly, their technician was a polite and knowledgeable young man. It left you feeling that they truly were concerned about our situation and I hope James felt good about the job he performed!
