Neighborhood Builders

I live in a house built by neighborhood builders. Almost all windows have paint that is peeling from condensation. After taking off the jam extensions and trim, you can see clearly there was no insulation between the window and the rough opening which allows cold air to come all the way under the jam extension (under a warm surface) which in my view is the reason for the condensation. Additionally, there was no flex wrap under the window or even Tyvek folded in to protect the framing around the window. I contacted them since the house is less than 10 years old. (Under Iowa law, Builders are responsible for building defects up to 10 years.) Neighborhood builders very quickly blamed it on inside humidity without even asking about the humidity levels in my house.. All I asked for was for them to cover the labor to uninstall and re-install the windows properly and I’d take care of everything else.. I received a simple response of “This is not something we can help you with.” All I can do at this point is share my experience and hope that this helps someone else when they are buying or building. There are other builders out there with houses that don’t have this issue. Sad that this company won’t do anything even after being provided with clear evidence that the windows weren’t installed properly..

Neighborhood Builders is a quality home builder. I have had my eye on their work, for 7 years, prior to my husband and I building our home with them. From Jake sitting down with us to design our home, to Lynn assisting us with picking out all of the details, to Adam keeping track of the money side of our project to Cory on the field making sure everything comes together...... they were all wonderful!

I felt comfortable with the entire build because I knew that with one email, they would take care of anything that I wanted to add, change or take away. We were no easy customers either. I'm super picky and hard to please and my husband is a commercial contracter. Between the two of us, Jake at Neighborhood Builders had his hands full.

We are just about ready to move in and I am very pleased with the construction, quality and especially the attention to detail. Our home has so many extras that are just the norm for Neighborhood. Things that I would have never thought of, that have just taken our house to the next level.

Neighborhood Builders exceeded our expectations for our new home. The quality of workmanship, timeliness of response to questions, and overall interactions with staff were first rate. We'd heard horror stories from people re their home building experiences, not so with Neighborhood Builders. It was all good!
