We appreciate the thorough job Mike does every time he comes to service our heating/air. If you want a company you can trust, and value honesty, you will receive that every time you call Compass Heating & Air. We will not go anywhere else!
They are absolutely wonderful! They are on time and friendly! They relate to there customers. Mike was here the very next day and explained to me what was wrong with my unit. He was very patient with me asking a million questions. I'm so happy I found such a great company that's honest and trustworthy.
Excellent company. Mike and his crew installed a heat pump in our sun room, and completed the job efficiently and on time in a very professional manner. Mike was excellent in his communication prior to and during the installation process. Everything was explained clearly. I would definitely use them again.
Was a pleasure having work done by them. I come from a family of workers in the trade business, and I have a hard time trusting anybody other than Friends and Family to work on my house. Hands down Compass Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. have proved to me they are like the family you didn't know you had!. They came over to my house to give me options of a AC problem I had trying to cool a warm part of my house. They solved the problem with a new energy efficient AC system and I have already felt the savings in the check book!. I can't say enough about Mike Gundersen and his team..Not only did Mike serve our GREAT country in the Military but he continues to serve his community with his great customer service!!
(Arlington Heights, IL) I went with Compass after getting quotes from 4 different HVAC companies. Compass was not the lowest priced, nor were they the most expensive. After the first heat wave of 2018, we were lucky enough to have 2 weeks to do a lot of research and try to understand the situation we had to work with. My old system was 14 years old, Freon, EMC motor, 90% efficiency, 100k BTU, 4 ton, Amana. The compressor stopped working, after changing out the capacitor, it was noted that Freon was low and there may of been a leak. Long story short, I put Mike up against a Carrier company and two companies that were representing Trane. Ultimately, I had Mike up against Trane and both companies had differing opinions, the difference between the two was that Mike knew they industry, he knew about the comparable units, he was all about educating me and helping me through the unplanned expense of replacing the HVAC system. The Trane guy, was also helpful, but in the end, really lost his cool. He did not know much about the competition, i.e. models and brands, and in the end, turned into a very mean, uneducated, talking down type owner of a HVAC company. I even offered the other company potential zoning work if something did not work out in the future and the response I received was do not even bother calling me. Mike reassured me that Compass will be here for me, offering me 10/10 warranty parts and labor. I know if I have a problem in the future, I can rely on Mike and Tom and that team to help me out. Mike install staff kept my mother and mother in law feeling safe while I was at work and my daughter was in the house while they were doing the work. I can say that Mike and his team were nice to have a conversation with and this company has built a team to trust and I highly recommend them!
Compass Heating & Air stuck with me through a tough issue that a tenant was responsible for (they moved th ac condenser with out any authorization). In the end I had to replace the unit and the furnace -- the process of dealing with property managers and the tenant was not fun and nor easy. The work that Compass has done with me in the past and this recent installation - they have been great.
And as a cherry on top, i must add (and inpromise it is true) - during the inspection, the Village inspector asked me, "who did this work? ... They did a great job! You should be very happy." So, there's that too. Thank you Compass Heating & Air.
I am upgrading this review based on owner Mike's follow-up upon seeing my review and wanted to rectify somewhat. This shows he cares about he does and in process want to preserve a good customer base. He offered to restart annual service with this year paid from repair trip charge of $89 and going forward won't be any repair labor or parts charge as long as yearly maintenance service is kept. I guess I still think $299 labor charge is excessive but at least Mike reached out to make things better and based on this I am upgrading this review and hoping it works out better for everyone involved. ************************************************************************ Normally I don't write too many reviews but this one I have to. Reason being I don't want any other be taken advantage of in time of emergency or quick repair. Mike and his team were good initially when I was looking to replace my A/C and furnace in 2015 and I liked his way of educating and not pushing his deal. His price was not the best but better than couple others. He sold us Amana high efficiency products at decent price. Installation was OK too. This year in October my furnace won't turn on when it was cold. We called for service and they sent technician on Oct 13th who checked and said gas valve needs to be replaced. Failed part is under warranty but labor would be charged. He did not provide the quote. I assumed it won't be much but couple of days later when he came back with new part to fix, I was given invoice of $383.60 where $299.60 was labor + $84 visit. It wasn't even labor intensive job - took less than 10 minutes to replace. All that when I was told at install time that we had 10 years parts+labor extended warranty. I reached out to owner Mike via email but that good person never even bothered to respond. So buyers beware - although they are decent people but their business practices are far from fair. I guess one needs to ask for quote beforehand so don't have to be surprised assuming not everyone plays fair.
After shopping to replace our broken AC and being pressured to purchase extra items with "scare tactics" from other companies, we came across Compass Heating & Air Conditioning. Ryan originally took our call and did a really good job of trying to understand our situation. That same day, they (Mike) visited our home to walk our property for an assessment. Their multiple proposals of "good, better, and best" options along with explanation on what each will provide us long term was fantastic. Mike in simple terms was able to explain our overall ROI (return on investment) of each system and how they would function in our home. More specifically, Mike help address another issue of a 15+/- degree temperature difference from our first floor and second floor. The icing on the cake is my wife and I have a newborn baby. Mike, Ryan, and Russ were more than over considerate of making us a priority with our newborn. On the first day we turned on the AC it was 85 degrees outside with an indoor temp of 83 on the thermostat. It took just a little over an hour to get the home cooled to 68 degrees. This would have taken us over 2 days with our old system. We are now down to a 2-4 degree difference between our 2 floors and are living in comfort! We love our new Amana Furnance & AC.
I have lived in Schaumburg, IL for almost 4 years. When I was looking for annual furnace/AC service my neighbor reccomended Compass Heating and Air Conditioning. Since then I have joined their Maintenence Plan. Twice per year they have been coming to our home for cleaning and service. The technians are always courteous, professional and take the time to explain the condition of our system and answer any questions. They give timely communication as to their "show up" time. Grateful to my neighbor for his recommendation.
Russ was very knowledgeable and very professional. He was also very courteous. My issue was resolved in an expeditious manner. Thank you. Because if Russ, Compass is a company I can feel comfortable recommending to family and friends.
