John from Heatcool came out to help me fix my A/C problem. My basement is freezing and my top floor is a sauna. He quoted me a fair price and came back a few weeks later to install. Fast, professional, and courteous, John has made it so much nicer inside! These guys are pros!
Prompt response. Extremely knowledgeable, professionally friendly technicians. Neat. Consistently provides customer service that exceeds excellence as a standard.
I own and live in a vintage 4-flat in Humboldt Park where each unit has its own heating unit. The second floor unit's wall furnace stopped working and I called Heat Cool for service. The tech sent out to get it running again arrived Monday morning and after checking and testing several things soon found the problem. The unit is working like new, and my tenant is warm and happy. I will certainly recommend this company to others. Thank you!
Every mechanic that has come out has been professional, on time, friendly, informative and wore their PPE during COVID (without being asked!). Jessica in the office has always been helpful and quick to respond as well! Highly recommend this company for any of your HVAC needs.
Detailed Review: decided to utilize their service to install a thermocoupler because I was (1) time constrained and (2) it would take a week or longer to get the part. I informed them of the website that had the part and the part I was interested in, a thermocoupler, and whether they could do it as it would save me time on the shipping and my schedule was getting hard to make time for it. I informed them of my exact model and supplied them the website as Kenmore is a Sear's product and the website is the Sear's Direct Catalog. Despite all of the advanced information I supplied, they sent a guy out who didn't have a compatible thermocoupler and informed me that it would take another visit [and additional cost] to do it! I sent an e-mail wanting confirmation why none of what I supplied information-wise wasn't even considered apparently and they called back informing me that they didn't have a compatible piece and that it was very "hard to obtain". The problem with their response is: 1- I GAVE THEM the direct website that had the EXACT Part! 2- If they even bothered to spend 5 minutes looking at that info they'd have learned spot-on if they had the right part. 2a- If they didn't have the right part they could have had the courtesy of saying "we don't have that exact part you can either order it and we can install it so you don't have to pay an extra service call". 2b- They could have said they just couldn't do it. 3- They came out anyways saying they couldn't do the job because they didn't have the right part [despite my providing them all the info of my model the prior week]. 4- They called to inform me as a followup to my original complaint that the part was "hard to obtain" and that it was a "different style than what they are accustomed to carrying on their vans". Well THAT'S WHY I SUPPLIED THE EXACT WEBSITE OF THE PARTS FOR THE EXACT MODEL I WANTED TO BE SERVICED.
Conclusion: I ended up calling and leaving a voicemail with Sears Direct and informed them of what I needed and why and what would I be looking at. Called me and left an e-mail reply per my request: they can't install it any faster than they can ship out the part but they can ship out the exact part I need and if I have trouble I can get an installation performed for a bit less than the service call I placed with HeatCool.
Additional Notes: I'm not trying to be a pain and I do service calls as a part of my line of work but I also get as much information as possible from a client before performing a job and making them pay. I seriously warn that customers should do some research on their parts and components and contact the manufacturer first! Keep in mind I wasn't trying to save money but time; that taking the time to change my schedule and commit to this problem was creating issues with the people whom needed the service and my job commitments. In the end, it cost me both and if I ultimately chose the "save money" route of ordering the part from the Sears website of the actual part, having a Sears operator come out would've still been less money and apparently have been faster.
It's also hard to have faith in a service where if you supply everything that is relevant to the job requirements and they come out and say they don't have the part its really more demonstrative that, personally I feel, (1) they didn't care to look at the info you supplied and (2) they didn't care if they solved the issue and that the customer will simply pay again to have them do the work.
The part I ordered is still shipping from Sears and I may just opt to have a coworker take a current contract so I can do the job I actually asked HeatCool to do which means that I ultimately lost more money and time using them versus had I opted to do it myself or even pay Sears to do it. I'm not advertising their (Sears) services but the fact is they DID at least inform me of the issues before hand: (1) they can't have someone come out with the part, (2)suggested I order the part first and then schedule the appointment and (3) verified the part I ordered was the compatible one.
The team at Heat-Cool Service is exceptional. They are actually located in on the North side of Chicago and have been in the same location for 50 years. They are just so easy to work with.
They are great people to work with, reliable, timely, and they do quality work. I will always use the great folks at Heatcool for all my heating and air needs.
Had warranty issue with window A/C. Gave me complete run around. I finally solved issue myself by calling the manufacturer who sent me a replacement unit immediately. Would not recommend this company.
DISASTER! This company makes false promises. I got SCAMMED out of my money. Do not work with this company.
For instance they promised that I could apply the fee for the initial visit to installation. They charged me $184 to tell me my A/C units were old (which I already knew) and then refused to honor the deal they promised.
Their rates are too high. Their service is poor. And, they lie to their customers. AVOID this company!

They did a difficult job fast and easy. They also came back and cleaned the carpet since it was messy.
Thank you!
