Very impressed with Rutan and their tech, Jimmy who came to inspect our central a/c unit for leaks. He was professional, personable, and thorough and the source of the leak was discovered.

Quality service. Fair pricing. Part of our preventative maint. plan for our home and they provided a life enhancing emergency call repair the day before Thanksgiving!!! They will meet each request with care, professionalism and knowledgeable service. They can't be there in 5 minutes, but will and have responding and repaired without us melting away.

I've had service done on multiple air conditioning units over the years and unfortunately a few years back, my go-to vendor no longer handles residential service, as a result, my last few annual AC services I've tried several vendors to find the great service I'd come to expect from my previous vendor. Unfortunately, of the 3 I've done in the last 3 years, Rutan is easily the worst experience I've ever had with not just an AC maintenance company, but any home services company. Without the excruciating details here's why:
1. Pre-scheduled, appointment missed, no call
2. On the rescheduled time, asked for a call from tech as there were other workers on site, no call.
3. After multiple follow-ups and phone discussions, I was told by the office worker that the technician was 'having trouble and taking longer because the workers were moving his stuff' (??)
4. The initial technician after completing what I thought was a normal maintenance (although I had to ask him to ensure that there was an anti-fungal/mold tablet placed in the drip pan, after which he had to climb back up in the attic and do that - although, points for being honest?! At least I hope he put it in there)
5. That same technician after completing my 2nd unit (they are side-by-side) informed me that the 2nd unit 'needs further diagnosis' (it doesn't) and he couldn't get the AC to blow cold. I have a Nest Thermostat and it clearly wasn't on. At this point I'm beginning to question the gentlemans knowledge and certifications.
6. Finally on the way out, I asked him how the filters looked, to which he responded 'oh we don't change the filters', I literally had to pick my jaw up from the floor. This is one of the main reasons I have the AC's serviced each year. So I don't have to climb in the attic myself to do it.
7. I called the office AGAIN and they said, oh that's an extra charge. An extra $25 charge for an 8 dollar filter from Home Depot.
8. Another tech came to replace the filters later in the afternoon. I asked him as well to call me after he finished the first unit, or to text me (my office is very close) so I could let him in to the 2nd unit. His response 'Oh I don't give out my personal cell phone to customers' at this point I was quite incredulous and am completely over this company.

Perhaps mine was an accumulation of issues, but boy did the stars align for this one. There's more to the story, but I'm out of energy.

Bottom line, there are other, better, more sensical companies for servicing your AC. My personal recommendation is to stay away from Rutan Refrigeration.

I have called on Rutan twice now for my home AC woes. Each time, they were able to send someone right away. Ryan came by within two hours of calling for help and he fixed my AC in no time. He clearly knew his stuff and was highly professional and helpful. He gave me some great pointers on proper maintaintence as well. Thanks!

Excellent honest service. Thoroughly explains problems and repairs. Offers multiple solutions without pushing the most expensive options. Very professional, highly recommend.
