This company has been my a/c service provider for almost six years. I am disappointed to report they tried to sell me a new air conditioning system when all I needed was a repair. Feeling very let down by Steve at Preferred Heating and Air Conditioning. Steve made two very long service calls. At the end of the first service call, he said I needed a new Contactor which would take several days to arrive. The estimated cost of this part was $500+. Yesterday, Steve came to install the replacement part but ended up informing me I needed a new a/c system.
The Senior Tech from Sea Coast Air Conditioning was able to fix my existing system and told me the Contactor should not cost more than $186 installed.

Have used them for years but past year service levels have fallen off. Attempt by technician to upsell last fall with a device he claimed my unit was needing (he had told my sister same thing a week before). My unit is only 3 years old. Today technician was to arrive between 9-1. Called at 12:30 and was told he was in transit. At 1 no one here so called again and was again told he was in transit. Said i heard that 30 minutes earlier and she said that was not possible since they were at lunch. I said call got routed to another site and she said no. I said i spoke with someone. She then yelled and hung up. Technician showed at 1:20. Why have a 4 hour window if you are not going to honor it. Called other services and they do 1 to 2 hour windows so this will be my last service by Preferred.
