The *opposite* of honest! The guy totally tried to scam me!

The technician from Honest Air has just left my property.

I called earlier this afternoon, and told the operator I was seeking guidance on why two rooms in my house were not cooling as much and what I could do to fix it. She said there would be a $114 / $140 fee for that inspection, I said that was fine.

When he arrived he was under the impression that he was coming to fix a broken A/C unit. I said my AC is working fine, it's just the two rooms. He seemed put out.

He took the thermostat off the wall and asked me for 4 AA batteries. I gave them. Now, I replaced the batteries a week ago, but didn't mention anything at this point.

He took the thermostat with him into the laundry room and began doing something with the unit. I remained in the living room.

He returned to the living area and re-attached the thermostat and now began to claim it wasn't working. It was stuck on the "System: Wait". He said the heating was working, but something was wrong with the A/C all of a sudden.

I pressed him for details on precisely what could have happened since he arrived that would explain why the A/C stopped working. He gave all manner of convoluted explanations. I ask how to fix it..... wait for it.... you know what's coming ...

He already had a new thermostat in its box waiting on the bookshelf! He pointed to it and told me I needed a new thermostat. The one in the box was a significant downgrade from the one we have.

I called Honest Air at 4:30pm, the guy immediately tried to get me off the phone by telling they were closed. But I let it ring anyway. Someone answered (Brittany?) and I explained the situation... as I was doing so he slipped back into the laundry room, then back to the thermostat. I walked over, still on the phone giving the details - and it was now working again.

I said "it's working", he replied "yeah, it's working - I couldn't tell you why?" with a shrug of the shoulders.

The lady on the phone said that someone (the "on-call"?) would call me in 30 minutes.

He then proceeded to pull out an iPad and start frantically typing into it.. he returned to the laundry room and pierced the air flow shaft with a temperature device.. I stood watching him type away, making sure he did not touch the unit again, then he returned to the thermostat - I quickly removed the device and followed him, handed it to him and asked him not to touch the thermostat and told him to wait for the person to call back and we would figure this out with him.

He said "you mean pay him?", "Yes", I replied. He had an audible Pfffff noise turned and walked out the front door. Now I'm writing this. I mean, this all might have been a really bizarre coinidence, but then again maybe not, especially given the ease & rapidity with which he turned and left! Honest Air? Evidence to the contrary it would appear!

Exceptional experience today with entire Honest Air staff. Nick the technician arrived promptly, quickly identified the issue, and got my system back up and running. He went the extra mile several times to make sure my system was in good order before departing. It was refreshing to hear him say that he loves the family owned Company and that management truly values its employees. I was so pleased with the service, professionalism, and price that I signed up for an annual service contract. Highly recommend!

My AC stopped the day before Thanksgiving BUT because we are a maintenance customer with Honest Air our house went to the top of the list!! John was there within 90 minutes and fixed the issue immediately. He also explained ways of avoiding the problem in the future and actually wound up and stored an electrical cord my husband had left outside near the unit. If you're looking for a reliable, efficient, friendly, and HONEST AC company, Honest Air can't be beat.

Chris was a great help and did a good job. He arrived on a Saturday morning, only an hour after we made the initial call. He informed us that there's not an "on call rate", so they treat all calls as if they occur during regular business hours. That was really nice to hear. The repair was done quickly and Chris explained what we could do to prevent the same issue in the future, so we had an option to upgrade to a better component. Chris was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We were so impressed that we started a regular maintenance program with Honest Air to have the system monitored moving forward. I'll definitely recommend them to others.

Nick from Honest Air was great. From the minute he got here he was very transparent and informative about all the steps that he was taking. His opinions and recommendations were really spot on. The price was very reasonable considering the amount of attention he gave the job and the quality of the work being done. Nick put a lot of energy toward the customer service experience with me and it seemed to come natural to him. The other positive part of this experience was dealing with the booking office. They were very accommodating to my schedule and everything went on time. I especially liked the 30min heads up I got before Nicks arrival.
