My AC was installed in February 2022 and of of today I cannot get any information about the permit application or final inspection. I was in contact with Andre in the permitting department and the last time i spoke to him was in March and since that time i am calling and sending email but no response from him or anyone in the company.

On December 01, 2022, I contacted Direct Air to check on a water leak my air conditioning unit had. When Mr. Alex Paula arrived at my home, he performed a brief inspection of the unit and determined the coils in the unit were dirty. Mr. Paula proceeded to give me several different quotes which are as follows $5,000 (for cleaning the blower, the coil, and the duct cleaning), $7,000 (to replace the coil, cleaning the blower and ducts), and the third quote was for $9,000 (for a new a/c unit and to clean the ducts). When inquiring about the quotes given, Mr. Paula stated that high cost of the services was because the blower needed to be removed and cleaned by hand, the coils must be removed, and welded back into the unit. He also suggested the U/V system was needed in order to prevent mold from developing. On the same day it was suggested that I apply for the $12,000 ten-year loan provided by the company’s sponsor.
On December 02, 2022, the new a/c unit was installed by what seem to be a contractor.
On December 06, 2022, Mr. Luis Vilalta and his assistant came to my home and advised me that I in fact did not have mold – but rather old dirt stains on the ducts and a lot of people change their units thinking they have mold and when in reality the units are just dirty. At this moment I knew that Mr. Paula had taken advantage of my situation and embellished the services needed in my home. Mr. Vilalta proceeded to also tell me that since the unit is brand new it was not necessary for me to have the blower or coils cleaned. When I questioned the charges applied to the ten-year loan, Mr. Vilalta stated that the prices were set and though many of the services I paid for were not performed nor were they needed that there was nothing he nor the company could do to rectify charges.

Andrew was the best technician we have ever had. He was very thorough and completed the service with a smile. I recommend Andrew from Direct Air anytime. The only complaint we have is that we have a service plan 3 times a year but the company never calls to schedule, we have to remember or else it doesn’t happen. Wish they would come up with a system to contact us like other companies do when you have a service contract.
