I contacted M & R Air Conditioning based on positive reviews I read online and following my experience, I wonder who wrote them all. I had an A/C unit that wasn’t cooling, and two gentlemen came out to my home very promptly and overall they were nice (this was probably the only positive thing I found.) With that said, they didn’t seem to know entirely what they were doing. The gentleman who took the lead on most things was on the phone with someone nearly the entire time seeking help/guidance on what to do next; this certainly did not promote confidence in his abilities. Eventually the source of the A/C leak was located via an electronic leak test.

I asked a lot of questions pertaining to pricing before signing anything. I was specifically told that the amount I paid for the leak test would be applied towards the repair. I asked specifically how much I would end up paying for the repair if the part (a coil) was covered under warranty (which it was.) The gentleman advised me that the repair/installation would be “nearly free” with the amount I was paying for the electronic leak test ($381.00). Note, I also paid $190.00 for an additional 2lbs of freon. The test charge seemed high to me, but I was willing to pay it solely because I was advised any repair would be “nearly free” with what I was paying and the credit that would be applied.

So, I paid $571.00 for the few minutes of actual work (and Freon) that was completed (which only told me that I had a leak) and received an estimate later for installation of the new coil which was a whopping $749.00 AFTER my “credit” was applied (in other words I was paying $1,320.00 in total for this repair.) Evidently “nearly free” means a $749.00 additional cost. Anyways, I was very disappointed that things were not spelled out more clearly and promises were made to me that were not kept. Based on my experience, I feel this company has shady business practices and would caution others. It may be better to go with someone else for your repair/install that is more upfront about cost and expectations.

Update: I got a quote from another company to complete the repair and wouldn’t you know, it was $750.00. Based on this, in my opinion, this company says they give you a credit for the leak test but in actuality are just inflating the cost of the actual repair to offset the credit. Another company is doing the repair for $750 (with no credit obviously). Had this company actually honored their credit without inflated prices, I’d be paying around $380 for the repair. In the end it’s costing me the same, but I am not dealing with a company with unethical practices IMO. ALSO the new company I found charges only $75 per LB for Freon vs the $95 this company charged me! Again, inflated prices!

They replaced a 5 ton air conditioner and installed a new thermostat with another room sensor. They also trained us on the remote use of of our cell phone to control thermostat. They were professional, efficient and cleaned up after themselves.

Repair today was a new coil and fixing my drain issue. The water is currently flowing out the drain pipe. I am extremely hopeful my drain issue is a thing of the past thanks to M & R Air Conditioning. Every time I have needed service they get someone here incredibly fast. They are professional and answer my many questions. Annette is incredibly helpful in scheduling and getting the Techs here. Thank you!

Annette answered the phone promptly. As usual, she was courteous, friendly, and very helpful. The work was performed in a timely manner by Joe, who very patiently answered all of my questions.

Everything about my experience with M&R was fantastic! They are friendly, profession, and (something I always appreciate) punctual. They were simply wonderful. Their workmanship for the new installation was performed above expectation, the technicians are knowledgeable and Annette is the best! I would recommend them to anyone needing AC work done.

Kyle from M & R Air was great. Very personable and polite and he made quick work of the issue we were having with our A/C. He quickly diagnosed the problem, replaced the necessary parts, and even went to the outside unit to check pressure, connections, etc. He answered all our questions and offered his advice for maintaining our system. Our next call for anything A/C related will definitely be with M & R!
