Sensible Heating and Cooling

In case you don't want to read my long-winded, very positive review: we got a new hot water tank & gas furnace after a carbon monoxide leak in our old system. Sensible Heating did an amazing job of installing a new hot water tank & gas furnace in one day! They were great to work with, had the most competitive price & the new system is far and away better than the old!

Long Version:
Our very old heating system & hot water heater started leaking carbon monoxide and we had to get it replaced just recently. The old system was a water heater which also was used to heat the house. After getting several quotes, I chose Sensible Heating and Cooling, not just because it was the best price (though it was), but because I really felt that Phil, who did the estimate, really took his time in looking over our home to decide what we needed, and to get us the best system for the money. We ended up scrapping the old system, and getting a new high efficiency furnace and hot water heater.

There was no sales pressure or upselling during the estimate process. In fact I was quoted for a less expensive single stage furnace, and I upsold myself to a slightly more expensive two stage.

Communication with Phil was excellent after we accepted the quote, and he promptly answered all my questions.

Phil sent over a crew soon after we got the estimate, on a Friday morning. He said it would probably take 2 days, which would have left us a weekend without heat or hot water. However, the guys who came, Aaron Dagnar and Walter, worked quickly and so efficiently throughout the day that we had both heat and hot water before 5:30.

Not only were they just awesome at getting the job done fast, but all of them were extremely friendly. They were very informative, and kept me updated on what was going on, and any changes to our home which would need to be made.

So tonight I'm sitting in a toasty home after a few days without heat, thanks to the people of Sensible Heating and Cooling. Highly reccomend!

I'm a real estate agent, a general contractor and an investor in rental property and fix up houses. So, I frequently have need of a reliable HVAC sub contractor. Dan has always given good advice, is reliable and his bids are competitive. I've used him many times and have recommended him to friends and clients. My first encounter with Dan was when I had an old furnace in a rental house and the pilot kept going out. Dan came up with the idea to put an electronic pilot on the old furnace. It's still going years later.

Our air conditioner failed, naturally when it is 95 degrees weather. Aaron the technician listened to my description of the symptoms, and immediately knew it was probably a failed capacitor. He tested the unit and sure enough he was right, and fixed it right away with a replacement part. Very fast, efficient and courteous. Also in these COVID times, he wore a mask at all times and was respectful of health and safety.

I have worked with Sensible Heating and cooling for several years and have no complaints. Dan is always knowledgable, respectful and timely. They take the time to explain any issues or concerns as well as the good news! They don't do unnecessary work and are always upfront about costs. In my opinion you can't go wrong with hiring this small business that wants to take of you over any big business company!

Extremely fair prices...All around amazing company. I dealt with one of the owners, Phil, in receiving a couple of quotes for HVAC work. Unfortunately I made a poor choice and didn't go with them early on. I got a terrible system as a result of going with someone off of Craigslist. Phil came and helped identify the problems, and provided very fair, reasonable solutions. I wish I could go back to the start and choose this company in the first place!!

I am a DIYer and depend on Dan and Sensible Heating for advice, maintenance, installations, service, and parts. I have recommended them to friends for their professional, reasonable, and prompt service. I know Dan's interest is in geothermal and I would love to be able to build a house and have Dan put in a geothermal system. Highly recommend.

I was originally looking at adding solar power to cut down my propane costs to heat. Hearing about Geothermal heating and cooling from Dan at Sensible Heating and Cooling changed my mind to go with this method. More cost effective by far and not subject to severe hail storms.
They were able to provide me with a totally new heating system and a cooling system that I did not have, all in just a few short weeks. Adding vents in my short attic space filled with blown-in insulation did not deter them, nor did digging trenches on my property with known and unknown wiring and sprinkler piping.
Last night and this we were comfortably warm and ecstatic that we will not be paying $5000 this winter for propane to heat.
Dan kept us up to date on the progress and made certain that we had not questions or issues during the installation. This is a great company to do business with and I will continue to use them for maintenance and any further heating or cooling needs that we may have.

Our home had a somewhat complicated heating system with three furnaces and no A/C. I wanted to simplify the system from it's 1971 roots and add A/C. We called 4 or 5 different contractors and got a "we don't want to do this" from 3 and the others threw a huge estimate at us.
We called Sensible Heating and Cooling and Dan Schmied came out and spent a great deal of time coming up with a plan and estimate that was very reasonable for our home. They were able to start almost immediately. Sensible's team, (Dan, Walter and Dagner) of installation technicians were courteous and experienced and completed the huge task in a few days. The team was very conscientious and kept things neat and tidy. The craftsmanship of the ducting was beautiful. Thank you to Dan and his crew for a comfortable climate in our home.
