Altitude Comfort Heating and Air

Altitude installed an A/C unit at my property 12 months ago. The installation went great and the team was VERY professional.

But that all changed when I needed a tech to come look at my A/C unit when I was having some issues this spring. I am shocked at how bad their customer service has been!

First, I tried calling multiple times over multiple days and received a “this voicemail box is full” after no one answered. Although frustrating, I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they had phone issues. After several more calls, I finally reached a real person (pretty sure it was Doug?). He was very helpful and apologetic and said he would get a tech out ASAP.

Perfect! I was ready to look past the communication issues and give altitude a 5-star rating. I left work early to meet the tech, but the tech never showed! I called altitude back, but guess what? No answer. I called back 15 minutes later, no response. I left a voicemail and even sent them an email, no response! I repeated this for several days with no response.

So here I am, 4 weeks after my first call to altitude and no tech has made it over to my house. I honestly cannot believe this company has such bad customer service. I had a great experience with them on the installation side, but they have dropped the ball in a HUGE way on the service side.

I recommended Altitude to friends and family (several of which had them do their install). I now regret this decision and wish I hadn’t given them such a glowing review.

I hope this review makes you second guess going with this company!!

Michael was our technician and we were very happy with the service when he came to repair our furnace. Amy was very helpful when I called in to make the appointment. I would recommend Altitude to anyone who needs a good HVAC company.

Whatever you do, do not use Altitude for any service. We are now dealing with a very poorly and incorrectly installed evaporative cooler. The company we hired to take a second look at the horrible installation of this unit will not even work on it because they don't want to take on the liability of just how poorly installed it is.
This company does not respond to our calls, they do not act professionally on the phone. A few of their service techs are nice, but this company should not receive any more business.

Update 2021:. Made me feel important. Talked about having a rattling noise and they got me on the schedule today!

UPDATE with Cam:
He came out a day early!! In the evening as the sun was setting. He thought we needed a recharge but instead found the valve that was causing the problem, essentially blocking the cooled air from coming in the house. IT WAS THE SIZE OF A pen point! seriously!! And he fixed it nearly in the dark.
We'll choose this company when we replace our unit, definitely!

July 2020: talked with Joel to get another price on having a technician come out and check why our A/C couldn't keep up with the heat. A place was coming out for $169 to do a 12 point inspection but no actual cleaning or advising. Joel had me test out my A/C for the entire day until I called to follow up with what the A/C was up to by noon the following day. He advised me on how to better run my A/C and saved me an expensive waste of a 12 point inspection. Turns out opening windows at night makes it harder for the A/C the following day!! Who knew!?

I've used Altitude Comfort for several years and they've always done a great job for me. Very responsive and always professional. Amy is so awesome and the techs I've had are top notch. Camden, Ryan, and the whole team are the best I've ever found.

Easy to see why Altitude Comfort has earned so many great reviews. I called them to get my ac unit repaired and was very impressed with the service I got from everyone in their office. Chris went out of his way to work us in on standby. Dave was fantastic and I couldn't be happier.

I agree 100% with everyone who posted about how awesome the folks at Altitude are to deal with. I had another company tell me I needed over $3,000 in repairs to my furnace and air conditioner. Dave checked everything out and said there was nothing wrong with most of the parts I was told I needed to replace.

Final bill was less than $1,000. Dave saved me from wasting $2,000 and I'm eternally grateful for his honesty. I'll definitely recommend them to everyone I know.

From the initial phone call to the actual technician service I would give an A+. Dave Y. Who was our tech was absolutely amazing! He reassured us and made us feel comfortable. Offered us several payment options and was very helpful. When we called, the man that answered was very helpful and understanding (wish I remembered his name). Our heater went out and it was beginning to snow. Our house was so cold we had to bundle up our 3 year old. The gentleman I spoke to said he would put us as a priority (which I was truly grateful for) and Dave was here in no time at all. I would highly recommend Altitude Comfort Heating and Air!

Warning! Do NOT hire this company. We failed to check Yelp and the BBB and relied on the stellar Google Reviews when doing our research - do not be fooled as we were.

We received several quotes to have HVAC installed in our home June 2019. Altitude Comfort Heating and Air visited our home, seemed professional, and gave us a reasonable price in comparison to other companies we had vetted out. When it came time to do the job, scheduling was unorganized and when the two technicians arrived, they seemed highly unprofessional.

The job took ALL day, and "technicians" were in and out of the home, leaving for 30 minutes to an hour at a time and coming back. This seemed odd.

When the job was finally completed, seemingly properly, we were just happy to have cool air. A day or two after installation we noticed zero cold air blowing into one of our main bedrooms. My partner crawled into the crawlspace and discovered the tubing was not connected at all.

Fast forward a few weeks, and cool air stopped blowing completely. Someone eventually came out to repair, but scheduling was a nightmare. They never answered their phones and were unreliable, not showing up at times they have promised. This went on for days.

When the HVAC went down again a month or two later we decided to hire another company to check out the system, as we were unable to get in touch with Altitude and it was HOT. The new technician informed us that the installation was not to code and had been installed completely wrong. It was at this point we found out that Altitude had not even pulled a permit with the city.

We let it go for a few months and it was eventually winter. We are now dealing with the same issues we did last summer and decided to get two more opinions. We've since found out that our furnace was completely incompatible with the HVAC system installed, and Altitude did us a complete disservice by installing and failing to mention. The installation was also a whack job, with parts installed sideways, etc. The other technicians laughed out loud.

This company is NOT BBB Accredited as they claim to be (they have an F rating). Their warranty and 100% satisfaction guarantee is a joke. Bottom line: do not hire this company if you do not want to work with crooks.

My furnace went out during a cold snap. They came out quickly to take a look but after the first attempts it was clear the problem was complicated. They made a special trip over the space heaters to keep me warm which was an unexpected bonus! They spent considerable time attempting everything to fix the exisiting furnace but eventually it came down to needing a new one. They were very accommodating with my schedule and where very helpful at getting me a great unit at a great price!!! I felt very comfortable with all the techs in my house, they were so polite and considerate. I would highly recommend this company!
