Van Wyhe Heating and AC

Amazing craftemanship and care for detail. We needed an AC unit installed and got a visit from another local company. They didn't get back with a quote for weeks so I looked into Van Wye who did our neighbors house. Dan checked it out, got us quote quick and answered any and all questions and gave us options. Our situation was tricky and necessitated modifications to our intake vent that required cutting into the baseboard. Not only did Dan do that, but he brought a new replacement grid that matched our old one--that wasn't even in the bid! He made sure that everything worked perfectly and walked us through the new system. Very chill and competent and accessible person. (FYI The other company's bid was almost $1500 more and made a point of saying that the intake issues was our responsibility. To me, this reflects the difference in approach to work--Dan wasn't going to leave until it was totally ready to go where the other company was fine leaving with a problematic intake vent.)

Dan is awesome! We are acting GC (owner builder) for our ADU (granny flat) in Encinitas and Dan has been great through this whole process with us. Started back in February and finished in May. Was able to assist in any city inspector questions during sign offs. We bought our own unit and he installed for us. We went with ductless ceiling cassettes with dual zone. Would highly recommend! (Just be patient - busy time right now) his price is very fair!

I was looking for an HONEST A/C tech and it seemed, like trying to find a needle in a haystack, but luckily I found Dan. (when I checked many other company reviews out, there were some real rip off artists)
Anyway, he came out to look at my 40 yr old unit (pictured below) checked the refrigerant levels + electrical which needed a minor repair, replaced pipe insulation and lucky everything else was fine. Just had to pay his service call. I'm very grateful to him. He said my unit could possibly run another 2 years, maybe as long as 10. When I do need to replace it, I DEFINATELY know who I'm calling to do the work.

Honesty, integrity, and attention to detail are just a few of the ways he does business. Seeking our house, and the buyer's home inspector claimed our 30 year old AC system was on it's last legs. We scheduled Dan for an evaluation and sent him the home inspectors report. He assessed the system and said it was operating amazingly well, that the ways the home inspector "tested" it were not done correctly, and that he could get it working even better. I asked for a quote to replace it just to have one, and he told me he'd give me one, but that he'd feel really bad about us spending the money to replace it when it was working so well. We had him do the cleaning and maintenance and it's still running like a champ!

Dan was great from the start to the finish. We had him advise us on how to deal with our 30 year old furnace, AC & ducting. He didn't push us on buying EVERYTHING new when all that was wrong was a broken furnace. In fact, he fixed the furnace during our free consult, meaning we wouldn't actually have to buy anything new, and was on his way out the door when we insisted on paying him at least SOMETHING for the fix. Probably a month later we called Dan and asked him to replace our furnace, replace all our ducting, and put on new vents in the house to make everything more efficient. He was competitive in pricing, transparent in quoting, and easy-going throughout our interactions. He even helped do some custom ducting work to our garage-office at a very reasonable rate, and it looks great! I will absolutely be hiring Dan and his team again when we're ready to replace our A/C, and I have already recommended him to friends and neighbors. Really a great contractor to work with! I highly recommend Dan!

I had a really great experience with Dan at Van Wyhe Heating and AC. On a cold stormy day I tried to install a new digital thermostat myself and failed miserably. I called Dan, who answered right away and found time to come by later in the day. It turned out to be little more complex than I thought, and he was really good at explaining what was happening, and then he fixed it. I really appreciated how responsive and personable he was, and he will definitely be my go-to HVAC person from now on.

I called Dan from my brothers referral. I instantly felt good about my experience from the first call. He is polite, honest,and thorough. My estimate was more comparable to honest quoting, not like a lot of these companies that charge you double to install a unit. He installed the unit pretty quick too, less than 2 weeks later. He was quick and the installation looks great. If he did foundation to attic I would use him for everything in my home. Oh well! I will have to stick to my hvac system for now! Thanks Dan!!

I needed to replace my aging HVAC system and received 4 estimates. One of my compressors failed during a heat wave and Dan responded to my phone call quickly. He was able to give me an estimate over the phone after I provided my current systems specs/pics. The other 3 companies couldn't give me an estimate over the phone. Dan's estimate was the least expensive, and for a 16 SEER vs the 14 SEER system for the other 3 bids. I saved thousands and in one case over 10 thousand dollars by going with Dan. The system worked perfectly during the summer and I've had the heat on several times now and it works perfectly too. Dan always communicated quickly, was on time, and with zero BS. Yes Dan's bid was the lowest for higher rated equipment, but I really appreciated how honest Dan was. Hiring Dan was like getting help from that friend or family member that knows the business, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the entire process. I highly recommend Dan for all your HVAC needs!

Dan was amazing, from getting a quote to scheduling the installation and getting the job done, I was truly impressed, and thankful since he came right at the peak of hot and humid season, with a very competitive quote and a very fast and clean installation. The mini split has been working great, kept us cool during the hot days and is keeping us warm during this cold season! Thank you, Dan. I would absolutely recommend!

My boyfriend and I had Van Wyhe Heating and AC come out and replace our AC and furnace. Dan did an amazing job and was so friendly. Everything looked professionally done. Dan was extremely knowledgeable and courteous during the whole process. Would definitely recommend!
