This review is for the quote and install experience with Season Control.
I initially was looking to get A/C done for my house and got over 10 quotes from a variety of companies. When Eric came to my house to give me a quote he was very informative and helpful. I also had a good feeling about Eric since my dog instantly befriended him even though he had barked aggressively at all the other company estimators.

Eric presented me with a competitive price for a 4 zone Mini-Split system and what was even better was that they were able to provide me with a 0% interest financing for 12 months (deffered interest loan) after the initial deposit.

After deciding to go with Season Control, they started the construction within 3 days and completed the job in 2 days! The system is working great and loved the experience with Season Control. In addition, the work crew were wonderful and respectful as well as very attentive and efficient. In addition, the crew lead Pablo was incredibly kind and eager to explain exactly how they were gonna run the system.

We have installed two brand new 5-ton Trane Package units from Season Control with new duct work at our newly renovated 3500 sqft house back on 7/16/2013.
Unfortunately, one of the units started having problems starting 8/23/2017. The unit would start turning on and off itself, and the technician explained to us it was probably the Nest thermostat's problem, and charged $75 for the visit. A month later on 9/29/2017, the machine started malfunctioning and would not stop. Al told us that the fan motor had stopped working they replaced the relay fan motor for $175. However, just shortly a month later again on 10/26/2017, the machine completely stopped and wouldn't turn on. This time Al told us that the motor itself was rusted and that it has mold growing on the blower and other parts of the machine. We were surprised as there was barely any rain (drought) and our machine was installed brand new just 4 years prior, and we VERY rarely use it. Al explained to us that it is because we live so close to the ocean. We were very skeptical since that would mean that every HVAC unit or machinery from the ocean to where we live in Los Angeles (not a beach city) which is still 7 miles away would break down every 4 years? We were told we had to change the motor out which costs $1,000 and that we can also add UV or Air Scrubber for additional $650/ $1250 each (which we declined). He explained that it is not within warranty because of where we live that had caused the rust. We thought the nightmare would be over, and they even suggested paying for their maintenance program to avoid any major repairs like the one we just had. We agreed, and the units were inspected and serviced on 5/21/2019 for $80 and they said the units were both running really well without any signs of rusts like before. Then, just shortly after on 8/27/2019, the same unit stopped blowing any cold air. This time he told us our TXV is clogged because it is rusted, and that we have to change out the TXV and replace freon, which he said he usually charges $1,050.00 but he give us a discount of $850. We were very skeptical again as to why another part would rust again in that same unit, but nothing has ever happened to the other unit they had installed just 10 feet away on the same roof? Al again explained again, it is the moisture in the air since we were so 'close' to the ocean. Luckily, this time we had too much doubts to trust him and started to call a second company fully licensed and insured for a second opinion.
What they found after inspection was very disturbing. They found that the draining system has never drained since it was installed, and that Season Control had originally installed them incorrectly without a cut out hole in the pan. When it was installed, PVC drain pipes and fittings were never being used and the pan was always full of water which leaked out to the roof constantly with roof stains. The blower motor constantly pulls water off of pan that is always full, therefore causing it to rust which eventually had to be replaced. But what's even more disturbing is that even though the motor is supposedly under warranty, they had charged us $1,000 and replaced us with a smaller and generic (not Tran, or any comparable brand that is supposed to be in our unit) motor that had much less efficiency than the original motor they should've put in and lied to us! The dual cap was completely wet, and TXV was rusted and then the capacitor shorted out, along with the Nest thermostat. In summary, all the problems came from the unit not draining since the water was splashing everything inside the unit causing the rust. Season Control has been lying to us all these time! To be exactc 5 times in the past 2 years, about the moisture in the air instead of their malpractice in installation. They gave us absurd reasons to cover up their own mistakes, kept charging us to change different parts time after time, so that they could profit from us not knowing enough about the machines, without ever ONCE, told us about the real issue of drainage. UNBELIEVABLE!

My AC went out in this 109 heat wave that we are having in the valley.
A friend who used Eric and his crew from season control for her house referred me to him.
I called one other company to get a competitive quote.

I was extremely happy to see that season control is very fair on their pricing.
Even during this insane heat that we are having.

They were less expensive than the other reputable air conditioning company.
They even offered financing which I took advantage off.

I needed to move fast as my house was hot and my kids were uncomfortable in their bedrooms upstairs. I made a decision to use season control.
I am so happy that I did!

They noticed that some of our vents were turned upside down and that's why the upstairs bedrooms weren't cooling as did the downstairs with our old AC.

This new 5 ton air conditioning that they installed is much quieter and works so much better due to the new ducts that were installed.
Very happy to recommend!

These guys were fantastic!!! So prompt. So professional. I’ll definitely use them again and will recommend them to all my friends. So happy and relieved to have an awesome air conditioner installed and working beautifully and the whole process was stress free. They assessed the situation, made a recommendation, patiently walked me through my options then totally delivered on what they promised. They did such a great job! So happy I hired them!

We purchased an AC unit and Heating system from Season Control Heating & Air Conditioning. In a few days they came and did the instillation, quick, efficient and neat. Had a small problem, called the technicion the next day, he was over in a couple of hours and with an adjustment solved the problem. Happy with the service and at a fair price

They installed our HVAC, which went well. So when we recently had an intermittent problem, I called them. They came out quickly -- but the guy they sent chatted a lot, would not keep his mask up, couldn't find the problem, and up-sold us some parts we probably need. The intermittent problem continued. My wife did not want to call the same company ever again. So we tried another company, Manny's. I liked their many good reviews and the fact that they proudly proclaimed they were vaccinated and always wore masks. Nice young man showed up, properly masked. Listened carefully to what we had to say and spent his time trying to solve the problem. Eventually, he found several loose connections that the other guy should've seen. Problem solved!

I will never call Season Control again.

I hope the below review will keep other aware of the insane over price, and that this will help them receive fair prices. I will be filing a complaint to the CSLB for price gauging.

Price per 25 pound 410A refrigerant cost approximately $75 to $175 per pound, or about $3-7 per pound. Wholesale. Considering the company takes 100% profit, i should have been only charged max $14 per pound.

The technician said I needed 2 pound recharge and he charged me 165 per pound. So he charged me $300 for labor for a approximately an hours work.

Then he applied a sealant injection which he never told me the price prior, but after finishing stated it would cost $350. When i argued that it was ridiculous he said he told me prior, but he did not. (He only advised the Freon recharge would be $165 per pound and that if the system needed to be replaced because of large leak, it would cost $1200.)

I said how did he reach that number when the part online ranges between $75-100, so account for 100% profit lets say $140-200. So I asked him where the $150 came from, and he said labor. Which didn’t make sense, because he was already charging me labor for the Freon, and the sealant was no more than 5 seconds of additional work to what he was already doing with the Freon recharge.

So he wanted to charge me $680 total. We ended agreeing to $575 because he never advised me on the charge for the sealant.

Learned my lesson, ask for invoice prior, I never received one until after I paid. I could have searched all this prior to paying and believe a fair price should have been lower, seeing how labor to add freon on the high end is ~$150 per hour and he didn’t spend more than an hour. In fact, he left to go to another job site before returning, but I had approved because we had to wait for some ice to melt within the unit. (He had tried to argue there was labor involved in that, when all I did was turn the furnace on per his advice to melt the ice)

SO lets conclude.
Charged me $575 for 2 pounds of freon, 1 sealant injection, and 1 hour of labor.

Fair price under assumption of 100% profit on material and high end range of labor should have been $28 for 2 lbs of freon, $150 for sealant. And $150 for hour of labor, for grand total of $330. This guy scammed me out for almost a 75% tip. I understand he has a family to feed, but so do I.

Live and Learn. Hopefully this helps someone else in getting a fair price.

I rent, where my landlord uses Season Control for annual maintenance for the HVAC. Gabe came over to check on the existing unit. He was friendly and professional throughout the service call. My landlord decided to install a new unit after conferring with Gabe. Gabe called me directly to secure a date for the installation. Gabe’s colleagues showed up on the date, and quickly got to work installing the inside and outside units. Including Gabe, all these guys were clean, courteous, and friendly. While installing the new units, the kept me abreast of the process. At the end one of the men was nice enough to show me the unit and describe its needs. While I do not know the cost, their professionalism and courtesy were priceless.

Our company has been using Season Control as our primary HVAC vendor for the past 10 years. They have always been great to deal with and provide exemplary service at a fair price.
