    Brower Technician Steve provided a wonderful, thorough, professional overall inspection of our HVAC system installed 2 years ago by Brower Mechanical. He also made sure the water heater is functioning properly and replaced 2 dirty ceiling vent filters with new ones and offered future advice about system heat or cold air not sufficiently reaching the back section of the house. In addition, Steve is congenial and articulate in his explanations related to the HVAC system here. Brower is fortunate to have such an efficient and talented Technician on their Staff.

    Horrible, fraudulent, incompetent company-We hired Brower for our HVAC in our medical building last year. They were supposed to maintain the 5 air conditioning units we have and we paid them quite a bit for this. Two units had not been used until last month - there were no tenants because of construction. However, when the tenants moved in and used it for the first time, one unit failed last month. They stated there was a leak and replaced the refrigerant. Then the weather cooled for a month and yesterday it was first used since the "repair" , and it failed again. I called the owner, Jeff Brower, and in condescension, he called me "dear" and blamed the age of the unit. He then canceled the maintenance contract immediately! I I hired someone else, who came straight out. It was not the refrigerant at all, the wiring was burnt out, and the starter controls were shot. The frayed wires should have been easily seen,when "maintenance" was done.. There was a fire starting too! Also they NEVER replaced the filters for three of the other units. They stated that filters were replaced in the service contract and I paid for nothing. Terrible!!! fraudulent labor.

    Your tech did a very good job with the furnace. He checked the duct work in the attic for me and determined I need to have some work to correct critter damage. Pictures were taken and reviewed.

    BEWARE!!!!! If I could give this company zero stars I would. We had Brower come out and check out our unit that was purchased and installed by Brower in 2012. It was blowing warm air. After installing a new capacitor the unit was still producing warm air. We were told they needed to do a leak detection test where they would put in 6lbs of refrigerant and inject a dye. Then they would come back in 2-3 weeks to see if the coil was leaking via a UV light. The technician said they had been having a lot of these repairs lately and said thats probably what it was. I asked if there would be a charge when he came back and he said no. He came back a few weeks later, went up with a black light and back down 15 minutes later to confirm the coil was in fact leaking. AND we were charged $277 for this service! When I said that he said there wasn't supposed to be a charge per our previous conversation, he said there was no "trip charge".

    He then took out a brochure with three prices for coil replacements with set prices on them. He told us what the charge was (over $4,000) minus the price of the coil ($401) because it was under warranty. I was very alarmed that it could cost $4,000 to replace a $400 part. There was no break down of charges of parts or labor. When I asked about the break down of charges, the technician said he would have the boss get back to me.

    A week later I got a call from Paul at Brower. When I asked him about the break down of charges for the coil replacement, he began to explain that there were coil replacements that were easy and took less time and that there were coil replacements that were more difficult that took more time. So to make it easy for their technicians so things were uniform across the board, he decided to make the pricing down the middle at the average coil replacement price. He proceeded to tell me how they needed two technicians for safety reasons and their protocol about having a person for fire watch because they use a torch and so on. He said the average time for replacement was 14.5 hours. I was NOT pleased with that answer. I said, "So if my coil replacement only takes 7 hours I have to pay for 14.5 hours? That's not right! If you were to go to a car mechanic to have a part replaced and they told you the average time to do this was 20 hours and they completed it in 15, would YOU want to pay for 20 hours of labor?" Of course you wouldn't!
    And there was a "standard charge" for refrigerant which again I said what if I don't need as much as "average"?

    He refused to give me the hourly labor charge for his technicians and said it depended on the type of work they were doing. He just kept repeating that "they have a standard price for a coil replacement" and that was it. This is absolutely ludacris and unacceptable!!!! You should only be charged for actual labor provided and actual parts used!

    Please DO NOT do business with Brower unless you want to get ripped off. I got two other bids for the same repair and they were $1500 and $2000 less!
