The Cool Guy

Its a long story but I promise you it’s worth the read on how reliable and honest The Cool Guys are and compared to Goettl.

I signed up for the Goettl Sadie monthly plan thinking it was a good reputable company, but was wrong.

They sent Mike, a technician supposedly, he first checked the air filter by just a flash light then went on to my thermostat and lowered the AC to 60 degrees forcing it to run , he then went out to check the Condenser.

Curious George me... I watched was he was doing through the window. I saw him kept pulling the lever from the circuit box therefore it shuts off the unit. I thought that was weird because that is not good for the AC to keep cycling the condenser.

After a few, He called me to go outside with him, He told me that my AC keeps cycling every 3-5mins and it’s causing surge to my system. He even recorded the shut offs on his phone and showed me the video, how convenient. I asked that he show me and test it live and not once the AC stopped as what he claimed, hmm sketchy. I have a feeling that he was doing it intentionally :( but I played along. I don’t want him to notice that I was watching him.

Then he decided that he needs to check the attic, he came back saying that the cycling issue is no longer a concern because apparently he fixed it in the attic (weird but ok)

At this point, I don’t trust this guy anymore but I wanted to see how far he would go.

After all his checks, he said that my capacitor and wiring needs to be replaced and that will cost me $980. My blower has accumulated dust and that’s $1000 to clean. He said that I don’t have a good airflow and Chas Roberts installed the duct system incorrectly, to fix it would cost more than a new unit. He then moved the conversation for me to think about the costs of those and to consider replacing my AC system...I felt like I was buying a used car!!! He said that my AC will not last this summer. He was creating a sense of urgency that parts are also hard to come by.

I ended our conversation nicely so that he thinks we’re cool 😆. I asked him what I got for the so called “Rejuvenation”, he said he cleaned it by hosing down the unit, he found the capacitor issue and some missing screws that he added. Take note... that is suppose to rejuvenate my AC, he didn’t even add any Freon!

A week after, my neighbors recommended The Cool AC guy, local to AZ. They arrived, inspected every vent and intake, not by just a flash light. They plugged in device in the vent to measure flow (I guess), replaced the capacitor and wiring for $250 with the wires (not $980 as what Geottl quoted), they inspected my unit, did hose down it again ( standard practice), guess what? They added FREON and also lubed the fan.

In the attic, they re- taped part of the duct that Geottl left open, they also said the blower was clean, it wasn’t dirty. They replaced the capacitor for the blower for another $250. Overall +99 for the tune up...total of $600. They said that the AC is in good condition, keep up with the the tune up and it’ll work for another 5+yrs. At that price it does not seem a good idea to replace the AC. Although it cost me more to pay another tech while I have a monthly plan with Geottl but it was worth it to find an honest HVAC company, I will be canceling the Geottl service.

Great experience with this company. My dental office had it's AC go out and these guys came out inspected, diagnosed and fixed everything in about an hour. We were so blessed to have such great customer service from The Cool Guy!

Josh is AMAZING! I had a different AC company come and fix my AC before I found this one and they were trying to cheat me on the price and that is when I turned to The Cool Guy for advice on fair prices and he helped me negotiate with the other AC company, even though he was under no obligation to. Next time my AC goes out I will come here 100%.

The crew arrived within the given time. They diagnosed the problem very quickly. The followed up with a few extra inspections afterwards to make sure nothing else on our units were causing the initial problem. Very professional! Very friendly! Very fair priced! I'll be calling them for any future HVAC needs! Thank you for the great service!

I had a house filled with people and my AC started giving me issues. It was about 110 degrees that day and I messaged them requesting if they could come over the following day as it was about 7:30pm on a Sunday and would never imagine they would be available. To my surprise they responded with we can be there in 30 minutes! When they arrived they were extremely informative and helpful! There was no BS or sales pitch they gave us our options and answered any questions we had (and we had TONS. :)

I will recommend them EVERY TIME and will use them from here on out! They are for sure our AC guys!!!! Thank you tons!

The Cool Guys were recommended to me by a friend and I am glad I did. They were the third group I had out and the only ones to figure out my problem. Arrived when promised and did a great job. They will be my go to guys in the future!

I noticed our AC wasn’t working properly and the fear that the hottest temp of the year so far was coming tomorrow and a holiday today meant my family were in for a long uncomfortable night. The property manager emergency line wasn’t picking up so we decided to call The Cool Guy and wow on the 4th of July, at 5 pm. He was at the house in 20 minutes and our AC was fixed in another 20 minutes and didn’t charge through the roof! I’m so grateful he came to our rescue! Thank you so much The Cool Guy 😎 ❄️
